Old Chevy

These aren't my pictures. They belong to someone I barely know.

I was driving around the city taking pictures of vehicles when a funny bumper sticker got my eye. After taking a picture of it and returning to my vehicle, a lady approached my truck and wanted to know why I was taking a picture of her friend's truck. I explained it was for an art project and then we struck up a friendly conversation. She told me about a nice truck she saw around the hospital and offered to send me pictures of it. She liked the look of it. I was intrigued because I live near the hospital and wondered if I'd seen the truck before. Sure enough, I had. But for me the significance of the story is that two strangers were able to create a connection based on an interest in old vehicles.

Chevrolet built this style of truck from 1947 to 1955. The styling was known as Advance Design and it features glaceful contours and simple yet beautiful truck bodies. The Chevrolet trucks of that era didn't have as powerful an engine as the Fords, but in terms of styling this vehicle is often considered by automotive enthusiasts as perhaps the best looking truck ever produced.

I like the way her pictures capture the fall leaves. Here, the trees are colourful yet still full and lush.
